Congratulations
Matariki Weekend was a huge weekend for “hole in one’s”. Congratulations to Sue Winny (no 13 twice), Dugald McLean (no 6) and Mark Savill (no 6).
Saturday, 20 July – Mixed Stableford
Partners – a live draw will be done at the completion of play. Please book on-line while there are still times available. Entry fee – $10 per player
Golf Club Vouchers
A reminder that “club vouchers” have an expiry date of 31 August 2024. These can be redeemed for food & beverages, used to buy product from the Golf Shop or credited to your membership account.
Root Pruning
The filling in of trenches has been completed, however with the wet weather, some trenches have slumped creating an uneven surface.  Care is still required in these areas.
A big thank you to all those members who contributed some time to assisting with this tidy up, especially John Collier & Harry Rutledge.
Communications
The Club uses a number of ways of keeping in touch with members:
  • Email – Annual General Meeting information, subscriptions
  • Newsletters/Men’s Draws – generated through the website
  • Website – course closure banner (on home page), club programme & policies
  • Golf NZ App – tee bookings, frost delays, course closure
However, all forms are reliant on the club having your correct email address, your permission to accept the communications and in the case of newsletters that you are subscribed. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to talk to Sue or Bex, who will assist you.
Health & Safety
As a result of the “slippery winter conditions” – please be careful out there.
Scorecard Printer

Our existing scorecard printer is out of action and means that we will be using a few different options in the short term.

  1. Use the touch screen to log-in and collect your scorecard from the temporary printer situated in the Golf Shop (to your right).
  2. On competition days, due larger volumes of scorecards required, they will be preprinted and either available from the Golf Shop or the Starter.
  3. When the Golf Shop is closed, please either use a blank scorecard or a digital scorecard.

Please be patient as we navigate this issue.  Should you need assistance in setting up to generate a digital card, please see Sue or Bex.

Saturday Competition Tee Times

The combination of “winter” tee times, frost delays and the increasing numbers playing on Saturday’s, we need your help to keep play flowing and ask that you observe the following guidelines:

  • Report to the starter at least 15 minutes prior to your tee time
  • Be ready on the tee to commence play at your allotted tee time
  • Tee off the next hole, then fill in your scorecard
  • Keep up with the group in front
  • If you are falling behind the group in front, finish holes in two’s and move to the next teeing area
  • Play “ready golf” – play when you ready, but in a safe and responsible manner

Momoka & Kazuma Kobori

The big news is that Momoka has qualified for selection alongside Lydia Ko for the Olympics.
Currently sitting 18th on the LET OOM, this weekend she is playing in the Swiss Open, followed by the Aramco Team Series in London.

Kazuma continues his preparation for The 152nd Open at Royal Troon from 14-21 July.

We wish them all the very best – play well.

With winter upon us, a timely reminder for all members to take care as we enter into the season of wet, slippery and frosty conditions.

Wet & Slippery Conditions
  1. Do not pull trundlers or drive on tee blocks or tee surrounds.
  2. Avoid walking or driving through wet/muddy areas, surface water and slippery slopes.
  3. If conditions are frosty, walk or drive in the rough.
  4. Use pathways where they are available.
  5. Keep off areas staked or roped off.
Golf Cart Specific
  1. Keep at least 10 metres from all greens and greenside bunkers.
  2. Do not driver over moulds that are within 10 metres of greens.
  3. Reduce speed to allow for conditions – wet grass, rough or steep terrain.
  4. Avoid driving through wet or muddy areas, surface water and on slipper slopes.
  5. Beware of low hanging tree branches and other hazards present off fairways.
H&S – Reporting on Incident or Near Misses

Under the Health & Safety Act, the Club has an obligation to record and follow up on all incidents and near misses.  Should an incident occur, these MUST be reported to the Secretary/Manager or in her absence the Golf Shop staff.

Tree Root Pruning

This work was due to commence today (Thursday) and to be completed over 2 days, however, weather conditions have delay this. A number of areas on course where tree roots are tapping into our greens, tees and fairway irrigation system with the initial work covering the “home paddock” and should time allow, holes 2 and 3.

Please give way to the contractor if you’re on course when this work is being undertaken.

Tee Renovations

Over the winter months, renovation work will be undertaken on a some tees.  In preparation for this work, “temporary tees” will be prepared and introduced when required.  Please avoid these areas while this preparation work takes place.

Frost Delays – Men’s Early Times

For those men who have booked tee times in the “Frost Zone”, should we have a frost, please check the Club’s website if you don’t receive a “notification” from the Club.
Should you still wish to play, please phone the Golf Shop as there will be minimal tee times available from 9.30am.
