When a frost occurs and your booking is within the “frost zone”, this maybe subject to change or cancellation. Information will be displayed on our website or those with bookings will receive a message via the Golf NZ app.

Course Matters
As we head into winter and after last week’s rain the course is damp in places and in particular the greens are soft and susceptible to damage thus resulting in an increase in unrepaired pitch marks.  Please repair “pitch marks” and carry a sand bucket. Bunker Rakes – please leave on the “OUTSIDE” of bunkers, at the furthest point from the fairway
Bellgrove Development

The latest draft version of the Heads of Agreement is with the developers and a further meeting with them and our lawyers is anticipated to be held over the next couple of weeks.  Once all parties are in agreement and the HOA finalised, a date will be set for the holding of a Special General Meeting.

Clubhouse Roof Renovations

Apart from a few finishing touches (spouting), roof renovations are now completed.

Solar Energy

The final stage of the installation will be undertaken on Monday 5 May, when the clubhouse/golf shop will be temporarily without power for 2-3 hours.

Men’s Programme

Hole in One Policy

The wording on eligibility has been clarified and is now:
“By a Club member on the Rangiora Golf Course participating in the Club’s Match of the Day or Club tournament (including organised social competition by the Women on Tuesday and the Men on Wednesday) qualify for – name engraved on the Club’s Hole in One board, hole in one insurance bar shout reimbursed up to a maximum allowed as set by the Management Committee from time to time.”

Course Matters

New block is growing well and at this stage no decision has been made as to when it will be brought back into play and may not be until after winter.

Course Damage
We continue to experience “damage” to the course.  This time no 13 green.
  Any information, please let us know.

Please don’t be the player
– who takes a divot and doesn’t sand it
– who never repairs pitch marks
– who doesn’t rake foot marks when leaving a bunker
– who enters bunkers from the high side
– who drives or pulls trundlers across tee blocks
– who doesn’t avoid and continues to drive or walk through “muddy” or wet patches

With further rain predicted and the course already water soaked, please take care of the course and of yourselves.

Maintenance Plan for May

  • finish the trial seeding of fairways 1, 5 and 5 with new type of grass
  • locate and repair irrigation faults
  • finish new path at no 8 tee
  • start winter pruning programme
Golf Shop Position

We were extremely sorry to see Lee leave us after a number of years of very loyal service and will miss her greatly.
Therefore, we are seeking a replacement on Saturday mornings for approx. 4 to 5 hours to look after the Golf Shop.

The Shootout is back

There is some good news…the Shootout is back, and it’s bigger than ever!

What is the Shootout?  I’m glad you asked.  It is a day of skill, luck, patience, and strategy.  At the beginning of the day we start with 19 players, you heard correct, 19 all teeing off the first…that’s where patience comes in.  At the end of each hole, the one player who have the highest scores is eliminated…much to the mirth of those who are watching. If there are more than two players with the same high score, there will be a chip off to determine who leaves the competition.  The Shootout is played over 18 holes and played on handicap. The last hole is a 2-person playoff which calls for nerves of steel. The winner is the last person standing.

For every player we have trying to qualify, it will be an $25 in the prize pool, so the more players, the bigger the prize pool. As an example, last year Matt Burns won …and pocketed a lovely $250.00.  If we had 50 members try and qualify, that would add an $1,250 Oh, and did I mention that even if you go out on the first hole, you are guaranteed to win something…apart from the ignominy of losing first up.

So how do you get the chance to play for serious money?

  • First of all, you need to enter prior to your first round by Advising Peter Rainey with the $25 Cash entry fee.
  • The below dates are qualifying rounds and you can play in as many as you are able to a maximum of 8 rounds.
  • Your best 4 rounds will be your qualifying points. i.e. if you play 4 rounds and have 70, 72, 75, 68 your Total will be 285.
  • The final will be held on Sunday, 9 November 2025.

Qualifying Rounds – 8 February, 8 March, 12 April, 24 May, 12 July,  2/3 August, 4 October, 1 November
