Futures Golf (Juniors)

Canterbury North-East Hub

Canterbury Golf in conjunction with 4 participating golf clubs has established a Futures Canterbury North-East Hub to provide regular and affordable opportunities for young people to learn and play golf within our area comprising of the following Clubs – Rangiora Golf Club, Bottle Lake Golf Club, Christchurch Golf Club and Waimairi Beach Golf Club
When you join a hub, you get membership to play at a number of participating local golf clubs plus a range of other benefits including events, coaching and an NZ Golf handicap.

Start the Adventure of a Lifetime!

Futures has three progressive stages to inspire a lifelong love of the game. Each stage has offerings for coaching, playing formats, events and experiences to support young people to learn at their own pace and are appropriate for their stage of development.

CHIPPERS – new players who are starting their journey in golf have the opportunity to learn new skills, have fun, make new friends and can just have a go at smashing balls, hitting targets and watching it fly!
6-week programme aimed at 5 to 9 year olds. The programme is structured to develop fundamental skills through fun games and activities.  There will also be a fun competition to finish on the golf course.  The programme is limited to 8 participants.

Rangiora Golf Club – starting Monday 24 February from 4.00-5.00pm
Cost: $30 for Hub members ($40 for casual)
CRUSHERS – young golfers who are growing a love for the game, have the opportunity to learn valuable life skills through golf and develop their confidence and skills on modified course lengths.
6-week programme aimed at 7 to 14 year olds. The programme is structured to develop young participants skills for golf incorporating putting, chipping, bunkers, full swing as well as heading out on the golf course for a fun competition to finish.  The programme is limited to 8 participants.

Christchurch Golf Club – starting Monday 17 February from ​4.00-5.00pm
Rangiora Golf Cub – starting Monday 24 February from 5.00-6.00pm
Cost: $30 for Hub members ($40 for casual)
YOUNG MASTERS – young golfers who have aspirations to develop their skills as a player, loves the game for the personal challenge and variety of competitive opportunities but also for those who enjoy being outdoors and playing for fun with their friends and family.

Programmed Events

Team Golf 6
– is recommended for young beginners who are newer to golf.  Play a fun team ambrose format on a shortened 6-hole course to build confidence on-course.  It’s OKAY relaxed rules ensure it’s all about kids having fun, we encourage parents to come along and caddy.  You can enter on your own or with a friend and we’ll make up groups.  Equipment is available, let us know when you register if you need to borrow clubs.
Entry is $5.
When – Sunday 16 February at Waimairi Beach Golf Club.  Players will need to be at Waimairi Beach by 12.30pm for the briefing.
Futures 9
– is aimed at giving participants the opportunity to spend time with friends on course with a competitive element playing a variety of individual formats based on handicap.  This event’s format is a Stableford.  Even if you regularly play 18 holes this event will provide a competitive challenge of 9 holes.
Entry is $5 for Futures Hub members ($10 for casual players).
When – Sunday 16 February at Waimairi Beach Golf Club.  Players will need to be at Waimairi Beach by 12.30pm for the briefing.

Membership Options

​Membership for children and young people is $120 per year and provides the following benefits:

  • An introductory branded apparel pack when you join
  • An official NZ Golf membership number​ and handicap
  • Regular events for young people and families
  • Free learn and play sessions and subsidised programmes
  • Opportunities to play junior interclub for a nominated golf club in your hub

​A parent/guardian membership is also available for an annual fee of $120. This membership provides access to play your local hub courses when playing with a young person who is a current member of a Futures Canterbury Hub.
To encourage family participation, this membership is transferable between parents allowing one parent at any time to play with their child/children. Please note this membership does not include an NZ Golf membership number.
