2026 RANGIORA GC MEN’S SHOOTOUT
COMPETITION remains tight for the 19 places in the latest version of the Rangiora men’s shootout with one remaining qualifying round, on October 31. Previous champion Rob Sutton, who was lying 3rd, has advised event co-ordinator Peter Rainey of his unavailability for the (Sunday) November 8 final. So too club captain Eric Crawford. That means last year’s runner-up Mark Batchelor on a best-4 306 net score & Colin Dooling (312) move up into the last two qualifying spots. Glen Drummond (314) will need to knock out the worst score in his 4 counters.
Club president Paul Woods retains the top spot with a net 284 and greens convenor Mark Graham stays close behind on 285. Scott Daniels on 287 just heads off youngster Jonty Swain, plus Rob Duff & Mark Reid, all on 288. And the trio of Matt Burns, Mark Brown & Mike Goodin with just 3 qualifying scores are potentially a good last round away from making it.
The current top qualifiers are: P Woods, Graham, (Sutton n/a), Daniels, Swain, Duff, Reid, Jim Dwyer, Daniel Needham, Karl Rollinson, Nigel Parkes, Tim Scott, (Crawford n/a), John Woods, Jim Martin, Tim Dunbar, Tony Burgess, Neil Hewitt, Peter Jones, Mark Batchelor, Colin Dooling.
If any of the qualifiers are unable to attend, please advise so the reserves can be moved into the final field.
Rangiora Simon Cup 2026
Well done to our Simon Cup team who have finished 3rd after the round robin matches. Rangiora will now take on Weedons in the semi-final at Waitikiri next Sunday (18th Oct) from 9:30am. The team is as follows; Dan Gread, Sam Flavell, Steve Williams, Jacob Burns, Richard Belcher, Dean Hikaka, Stretch Renai and Craig Newman.
A big thanks to Carl Franklin for organising the team this season.
Car park
We are expecting the shaping and resurfacing with chip seal of the car park to start within the next few weeks. This will result in the car park area being shut and the need to shut the hitting range so it can be used as a temporary car park at this time. As part of this upgrade we are also expecting new services to be connected. This will include connecting town supply water, sewer and fibre.

The week has gone well with the coring and sanding completed and the root pruning on a number of holes completed.

Thank you to our course staff who worked longer hours each day to ensure the job was completed in good time and to those who helped them through the week. The weather was on our side and has helped complete the work quickly. A few areas of the process still require completing and these will be completed tomorrow and in the weeks ahead.

I must thank the very giving volunteers who came out over the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to help with the picking up of roots and repair work to the trenches resulting from the digger and ripper. While the results will not show straight away, there is no doubt roots heading towards the fairways have been stopped and will ensure the water applied targets the turf areas.

Ground Under Repair
As a result of the root pruning by the digger there will be damaged areas and we ask that you take relief from these areas as required. Because of the large areas damaged along the tree lines, they will not be marked with white paint and we ask that you make a fair judgement if any damaged areas effect your shot or stance.

Thanks again to everyone who helped !
